'Skilful team player': Jurgen Klopp says he 'very happy' with new €60million signing that 'always the goal in mind'

Jurgen Klopp is delighted that Liverpool have completed the signing of Luis Diaz from Porto.

It's been a whirlwind few days but the Reds have captured the Colombian and the boss has told the club's official website that he's over the moon that the Reds were able to get a deal over the line.

He said: “I could not be happier that we’ve been able to get this deal done and bring Luis to Liverpool.

“I have always been a believer in only signing players in January if you would want to sign them in the summer, and that’s very much the case with Luis.

“He is an outstanding player and someone we’ve been tracking for a very long time."

Diaz was a scary player to play against this season even if Liverpool did beat Porto 7-1 on aggregate in the Champions League.

His pace was absolutely frightening and I have no doubt in my mind that Klopp is already salivating at the prospect of the Colombian flying forward in his heavy metal system and hopefully we will see him in action against Leicester City in the Premier League on the 10th of February.

It does feel as though the FA Cup clash against Cardiff City on the 6th will be too soon for him to make his Liverpool debut.

Speaking to LFC, Klopp continued: “We believe he has everything needed to fit into our way and adapt to the Premier League, both physically and mentally. He is a player who is hungry for success and knows you have to fight to get what you want. He is a fighter, no doubt. He’s a skilful team player who has always the goal in mind.

“This team deserved to add quality and when we played against Luis earlier this season, we saw what a danger he is, how fast he is and how his mentality was to help his team.

“We know Porto is an outstanding club who nurture players in the best possible way and provide a brilliant football education.

“Luis is a player we believe will make us better now and in the future. He is the player we really wanted and they’ve made it happen, so I am very happy.”
