Klopp and Guardiola could battle for €50m ace: Liverpool ready to trigger release clause and have offered a contract

Liverpool have already offered Gavi a contract worth £9million and are ready to trigger his release clause which is set at £42m.

Yet, Pep Guardiola wants him at Manchester City which may complicate things further.

The 17-year-old is widely considered as being the next big thing in midfield.

Despite his tender age, he has wowed the football world with his talent and maturity and many top clubs around Europe want to sign him.

According to the Mirror, Pep Guardiola "won't hesitate" to act if talks between Gavi and Barcelona break down.

The Catalonians are in 'serious financial distress' and are relying on 'an immediate cash injection of £450million' to save them and if they are unable to convince Gavi to sign a new deal, the vultures will swoop.

Among them would undoubtedly be Liverpool and Manchester City.

The 17-year-old earns £20,000-a-week and has been offered a renewal worth £33,000/week.

Now, that's a lot of money for a teenager but in the world of football, age means little especially when that contract would take him to his 22nd birthday.

Gavi and his representatives are demanding £77,000/week as well as an increase of £19,000/annum for four years which would see him earn £153,000/week by the final year of his contract.

Liverpool have already made a contract offer to Gavi worth an incredible £9m/year which equates to £173,000/week, according to La Porteria.

With the Reds ready to trigger his €50million (£42m) release clause, it's exciting to consider him arriving this summer but Barcelona remain favourites to put his signature on paper.

That said, anything can happen so long as he hasn't renewed with Barcelona and Liverpool are flexing their financial muscle more than ever.

With Darwin Nunez joining Liverpool for €100m, Fabio Carvalho arriving from Fabio Carvalho and all the world-class stars already at Anfield, now is a great time for Gavi to join the club.
