Journalist that broke Thiago to Liverpool claims Julian Ward is set to make an opening offer to complete €50M signing

Ekrem Konur, one of the journalists that was first to break news of Thiago to Liverpool, reports that an offer is beckoning to sign Matheus Nunes.

Nunes, 23, has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.

The Sporting midfielder has impressed in recent seasons for the Portuguese champions and could be the midfielder that fans have been waiting to sign for years.

With rumours only intensifying in recent days, could we be set to see Jurgen Klopp add another brilliant signing to this already-great Liverpool side?

What do the latest reports say?

Liverpool have been linked with the midfielder for most of the summer so far - with the latest news claiming he was told to wait for a 'big club' to come for him.

With the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea interested in the Portuguese midfielder, Liverpool are set to make their opening offer, according to Correio da Manha.

Reports have claimed that the bid will come in around €45M with around €5M in add-ons.

His contract doesn't run out until 2026 and the fee being discussed is below the reported release clause of €60M (£51M).

Could a Liverpool midfielder be sold to make way?

The latest news has revealed that West Ham are plotting a cut-price deal for Liverpool's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Chamberlain, 28, joined Liverpool five years ago from Arsenal but has struggled to lock down a first-team place and has just suffered another injury setback during pre-season.

The Hammers are hoping to secure a deal of around £10m for the midfielder and that move could pave the way for Nunes.

With just weeks left of the window, Liverpool still have time to turn this deal around and give that added reliability and quality in the middle of the pitch as they look to hunt down Manchester City once again.
