Sources: '100%' focused Liverpool star will not leave despite troubled season

Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos says that there is no sign that Kostas Tsimikas will leave Liverpool despite a difficult first season since moving to Anfield in a deal worth a reported £11.75million.

He wrote on Twitter that he is "100%' focused on Liverpool despite struggling with injury and COVID-19. His chances have been limited and he's battled to make an impact but the former Olympiacos man is not ready to quit on Merseyside.

I wrote yesterday: "Injuries and the COVID-19 virus caused him to be sidelined during an important period for the Reds and although he’s been fit since the end of January, he’s struggled to make an impact at Liverpool and hasn’t started for Jurgen Klopp’s men since the 1-1 draw with FC Midtjylland in December of last year."

Liverpool have been blighted by injuries this season and although they're an occupational hazard, it's fair for supporters to feel as though they've been robbed after the excellence that was on show last term.

A first Premier League title in 30 years with a 99-point finish has been followed by an injury-torn campaign that's likely to end without Champions League football.

The likes of Virgil van Dijk are beginning to return to full fitness but not before the end of the season.

That said, excitement is beginning to climb as the thought of having a fully fit side promises top quality football once again and with supporters likely to be allowed back in stadiums next season, the hopes are that we see vintage Liverpool steamrolling teams once again.

Tsimikas will hope that pre-season and some rest will allow him to return next season rejuvenated and ready to challenge Andy Robertson for that left-back role that is so important in Liverpool's system.

Not only will it be great to see the Greek fullback in action, but it will also boost Robertson's own performances which have dipped alarmingly this year.
