£45million Liverpool star signed a contract of an entirely different nature on Thursday - it's a lifetime agreement

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez got married to his fiance, Tamara, on Thursday and after signing a marriage contract, he is now a hitched man!

After what has been a very difficult year for the 24-year-old, it's great to see him get a personal win and after dating Tamara for 7 years, they have taken a huge step.

While there is very little time for a honeymoon with pre-season set to start on the 12th of July, I'm delighted for Joe and I hope he can carry this positivity into the new season.

Liverpool fans are aware of how unlucky the former Charlton Athletic star has been with injuries but overcoming them will help him on his way to becoming one of the best defenders in the world.

Since joining the club in 2015 for £3.5m, the centre back has suffered eight injuries which isn't that bad but four of them required injuries and forced him to miss a total of 771 days of football.

His latest is one that has Liverpool particularly concerned after he ruptured his patellar tendon while on international duty with England in November of 2020.

I'm gutted for him as he would surely have been a starter for England at this summer's EUROs and with the Three Lions in a strong position to win the tournament, it's horrible to think he (and Trent Alexander-Arnold) could have been a part of it.

Gomez is expected to report for pre-season on day one as he is set to ramp up his recovery and the hope is that he will be ready to challenge Ibrahima Konate for a starting role in the starting XI.

We were told before Konate joined the club that he will go straight into the starting lineup as Liverpool aim to ease Gomez back into the action to avoid placing too much stress on his patellar tendon.

Gomez, who CIES Football Observatory estimates is worth around £45million, has a major job on his hands to come back into the side and challenge Konate for a starting spot.
