Jesse Lingard set to earn more than these Liverpool stars – incredible money involved

Wages have been a big topic of discussion on Merseyside in recent times thanks to the Mohamed Salah contract saga.

Fortunately for Liverpool fans, the Egyptian signed on for a huge £350k-a-week deal that will keep him at the club until 2026.

Typically, the Reds don’t go against their wage structure but some of their players may be a bit aggrieved when they hear how much Jesse Lingard is earning at newly-promoted Nottingham Forrest.

Lingard, 29, has secured a £200k-a-week deal which will see him earn more than the likes of Kai Havertz (Chelsea) Paul Pogba (Juventus) and Heung-Min Son (Tottenham).

This is despite only playing 21 games last season and only managing two goals and one assist in all competitions.

A newly-promoted side offering that type of money reflects the modern game in its entirety.

Certain Liverpool stars may feel hard done by that Lingard could earn more at a newly-promoted club than a certifiably elite-level European club.

Liverpool stars such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Roberto Firmino all reportedly earn less than Lingard, according to Spotrac.

Even world-class operators such as Alisson and Fabinho fall short of the former Manchester United player.

The players earning on or above Lingard’s wage include Liverpool’s star men such as Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Thiago.

For a newly-promoted side to be able to offer that to a Manchester United player – perhaps there is too much money in football after all…
