Jamal Lewis 'linked' with Anfield move
Liverpool will be looking to add to their defensive options this summer and they have an eye on Jamal Lewis.
According to The Express, Liverpool are looking to sign the 22-year old as cover for Andrew Robertson.
However, in the same article, the Belfast Telegraph has reported that any move for Lewis would depend on Ben Chilwell's future at Leicester.
The England left-back is a target for Chelsea. If a move was to materialise then Leicester would turn their attention to Lewis.
It is also report that a fee of £20 million will be enough for Norwich City to sell their left-back. A fee that high would see Lewis become the most expensive Northern Irishman in history.
Again, The Express writes that Liverpool will look to bring Jamal Lewis in as cover at left-back courtesy of Goal. As the Reds will be challenging on all fronts again next season, defensive cover could be critical. With Adam Lewis likely to be loaned out and Yasser Larouci refusing to sign a new contract, the left-back position has the least depth.
To ask Andrew Robertson to play every minute of every game next season will be ludicrous. As would asking James Milner to act as cover again with the midfielder will be 35 when next season ends.
With that in mind, a move for Jamal Lewis makes sense. Even with Norwich's poor defensive record, Lewis has been a threat going forward. He has scored one goal and started 24 times this season.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has managed to improve Alexander-Arnold and Robertson's defensive game. Clearly, if he can iron out those little flaws on Lewis' game, then £20 million could be a shewed piece of business.
