Liverpool are upsetting everybody right now and I'm delighted about it as former Manchester City winger, Trevor Sinclair, says it's a shame Fabio Carvalho is joining the Reds.

This season has been like a fever dream for fans of a Red persuasion and while winning the Premier League is out of our hands, there's a strong chance that the FA Cup and Champions League could be added to the Carabao Cup already won earlier this year.

Liverpool could win the quadruple if everything goes to plan and if that happens, this team will be elevated above any single-season achievement another club has managed.

Jurgen Klopp oversaw a tactical masterclass against Villarreal as he calmed his players down at half-time, tweaked his game plan and sent Luis Diaz on to wreak havoc.

And that's exactly what the Colombian did as Liverpool booked their place in their third Champions League final in five seasons, running out 5-2 winners on aggregate - 3-2 on the night.

While the on-field success rages on, the geniuses behind the scenes are plugging away to ensure it continues into the 2022/23 campaign.

Fabio Carvalho is on the verge of moving to Anfield where he is set, not for a return loan to Fulham, but for a role in Liverpool's star-studded squad.

The 19-year-old has shone in the Championship this season alongside Harry Wilson and Aleksandr Mitrovic.

In all competitions, he has scored 11 goals while assisting 8 goals but his end product isn't what has impressed me the most.

Rather it has been his movement from midfield and the technique with which he charms defenders and fools goalkeepers.

A sign of how good a signing he will be is how the likes of Trevor Sinclair are upset that he's on his way to Anfield this summer.

Fulham vice-chairman and director of football operations, Tony Khan, called him "tremendous" while speaking to the Athletic.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Sinclair vented his frustration at yet another coup from the Reds, saying: “It’s a shame about Carvalho, because he’s going to Liverpool.

“He’s been instrumental to them and their success this season. But, if they get good money for them, and I believe they are…”

He was interrupted by Simon Jordan, who cut in by saying: “They’re getting £7.5million aren’t they? I saw the ridiculous assertions from Tony Khan that this is good business.

“It’s not good business…It’s phenomenal business for Liverpool, for Fulham it’s not so great.”

Liverpool will pay £5million upfront and an additional £2.5m in performance related add-ons and so it's an absolute steal from the Reds.

It can be considered a parting gift from Liverpool's famous sporting director, Michael Edwards, who is set to take his leave at the end of the season when his contract expires.
