If Manchester City suffer £80M loss in the transfer market, Liverpool will walk to the Premier League title

Manchester City's Bernardo Silva has been heavily linked with a move away from the Premier League champions for the last two summers.

It's clear the Portuguese international favours a move to another one of Europe's elite.

A key player for City, his tenacity, work rate and overriding quality has been key to the club's domestic domination.

If he were to leave the club this summer then surely it would make Liverpool favourites for the title and the Reds would surely win at a canter.

Silva to PSG or Barcelona?

Having been linked with a move away last summer, the reports have intensified this week.

According from reports in France, PSG are hoping to mount a bid of around £80-85M to secure their man.

Luís Campos, PSG's advisor, knows Silva well as he initially recruited him to Monaco all those years ago and he's the driving force behind this potential deal.

It seems a move to Barcelona is also possible, with Barca's president claiming Silva is a deal 'they're working on' with Xavi wanting more reinforcements ahead of the season.

How it would affect the title race

Without Silva, City would lose a key player and one that would be extremely hard to replace.

His distance covered, close control and ability to play a number of roles to a high level have given City so much since joining in 2017.

The Citizens would be losing a world-class player and it would impact them massively in the title race.

Even bringing in the likes of Liverpool target Matheus Nunes or even Frenkie de Jong would see an initial bedding-in period; which could result in teething issues that mean City lose ground on Liverpool - much like the 2019/20 title race.
