Michael Edwards is leaving at the end of the season but by the looks of it, Liverpool have a potentially legendary replacement in 42-year-old Julian Ward.

The Reds' next sporting director shadowed his first signing for the Reds by overseeing the capture of Luis Diaz from Porto.

If that wasn't fantastic enough, he did it by snatching the Colombian out from underneath Tottenham Hotspur's nose and made Daniel Levy so angry that the Spurs chairman was reportedly so furious he considered reporting Liverpool to the powers that be.

Now, if that's not enough to get supporters on your side, he's also earned himself enemies at another major North London club which actually benefits the Reds in their rearranged Premier League fixture this season.

Jurgen Klopp might actually take Ward out for a beer if Liverpool beat Arsenal as due to the signing of Diaz, CBS Sports claim Porto were unwilling to allow the Gunners to sign Mehdi Taremi.

They were running out of options in the striking department after Dusan Vlahovic moved to Juventus and they were linked with Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jonathan David while Alvaro Morata and Real Madrid's Luka Jovic were also considered, according to the Mirror.

Liverpool finally have the attacking depth to rival Manchester City

Signing Diaz means Jurgen Klopp has the ability to rotate and tinker with his side the way Pep Guardiola has been able to in recent seasons.

Luis Diaz, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi, Harvey Elliott, Kaide Gordon.

Liverpool now have a wealth of attacking options and they want to add Fabio Carvalho in the summer to further upgrade.

It certainly seems as though the Reds have gone up a gear in the transfer market and it's pleasing to see that it's leaving our rivals furious as that's how we've felt for years and now we need to go out and do the business on the pitch otherwise it counts for little more than bragging rights.
