How Lionel Messi can help Liverpool sign £81m Gini Wijnaldum replacement

Liverpool must act and sign Frenkie De Jong and safeguard their midfield's future for the next 10 years.

The football world was shaken this week as the news broke that Barcelona would be unable to extend Lionel Messi's contract.

He now seems likely to sign for PSG and will join Gini Wijnaldum at Parc des Princes.

The Dutchman was accused of choosing money over the lure of playing with Leo Messi at Camp Nou but now he gets the best of both worlds.

Now that Messi has left Barcelona, they will no longer be able to use his presence to attract players to the club and equally, they won't be able to use it to keep players at the club.

The Reds need to use the iconic Argentine's departure to convince de Jong that now is the best time to leave Barcelona.

Liverpool need to replace Wijnaldum and while Renato Sanches has been heavily linked, Saul is reportedly an option and Yves Bissouma was a player the Reds wanted, Frenkie is the dream option.

Transfermarkt values him at £81million so he's obviously not a player that FSG would normally bring to Anfield but he's going to be one of if not the best midfielders in the world one day.

He's the full package. He can dribble, press, tackle, can shoot, assist and is more than willing to do the dirty work.

The former Ajax star is such a fun player to watch but his understanding of the game is what would make him work so perfectly under Jurgen Klopp.
