How a win at Tottenham could be Liverpool's catalyst

Liverpool head to London to face Tottenham Thursday evening as the Reds look to get their season back on track.

Jurgen Klopp's men are currently on a five-game winless streak in the Premier League dating back to December.

However, there were some positive signs during their defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday. The Reds exited the cup after losing 3-2 as the club now only have two more trophies to win this season. But the goal drought has ended with Mo Salah looking close to his best grabbing two goals.

The ending of that drought could not have come at a better time for this group of players. Especially with the form that their opponents currently find themselves in, with Spurs unbeaten in their last four Premier League games.

However, Liverpool should be going into this game with a much-needed confidence boost. They have already beaten Spurs this season, after scoring a late goal to beat them 2-1 at Anfield back in December.

Interestingly, most fans will be expecting a 'typical Jose' performance with Spurs playing a low block. Liverpool will therefore have the most of the possession and will have a chance to dictate the play away from home.

How will this game be the catalyst for Liverpool?

Liverpool are heading into a run of fixtures that could determine where they finish this season. They seem themselves going up against Spurs, West Ham, Brighton, Manchester City, Leicester City and Everton in the new few weeks.

A win at the very start of this run of fixtures could give the team a new wave of confidence going into the next five games.

IF Liverpool are to win their next two games they will face a Manchester City side at Anfield without talisman Kevin De Bruyne. A win against City following on from two positive results would see Liverpool right back in the title race.

Importantly, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson are fit for Thursday night's game. That will see Liverpool play their strongest possible side given the club's injuries this season.

These next six games will have a cup final feel about them, starting at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
