'Here We Go': Fabrizio Romano confirms Nunez to Liverpool - €100million deal signed with medical scheduled

Benfica have confirmed the sale of Darwin Nunez to Liverpool and Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the contract he will sign.

The 22-year-old has been linked with the Reds for several months but over the last week, Liverpool accelerated their interest to beat Manchester United to his signature.

Benfica have confirmed that Nunez will join Liverpool for a total package deal that could reach €100million with add-ons but the initial fee is worth €75million.

While it was previously reported that Nunez would be given a five-year contract, Fabrizio Romano reports that he will sign a six-year deal until 2028.

It's reported he will earn £131,000 a week so his contract is worth £40million assuming his wages remain the same which is unlikely if he delivers the way he did at Benfica this season.

The former Almeria star scored 34 goals in all competitions for the Portuguese outfit and will be expected to match that tally next season given the fee paid to sign him.

I've already seen comparisons between Nunez and Fernando Torres and if the young forward can deliver the way El Niño did in his first season at Anfield, we're in for a treat.

Liverpool still need to conduct Nunez's medical but there should be no issue and he will soon be a new Red.

Jurgen Klopp will work wonders with the striker the way he has done with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota.

Had Divock Origi not been injured the way he was against Everton, things may have turned out differently for him but now is the time to get excited about the future rather than speculate about the past.

Hopefully, Nunez joining Liverpool can help them win the Premier League next season after coming so close this year.
