Serie A outfit opens talks to to sign Liverpool midfielder

Sassuolo open negotiations with Liverpool to sign Marko Grujic as a replacement for Manuel Locatelli.

It speaks volumes about the way his Anfield career has panned out that most of his photos in Liverpool gear have come in pre-season training kit.

The Serbian has spent most of the last five years on loan and is finally set to leave the club permanently after being made Jurgen Klopp's first signing in 2016.

Grujic is currently with Liverpool in Austria with less than a month to go until the first Premier League game of the season.

Sassuolo want Marko Grujic

Unless something dramatic happens, the 25-year-old will not be at the club come the 14th of August and Serie A side Sassuolo are interested in signing him.

Selling Grujic should not prove difficult for the Reds this summer as he has a host of suitors but Liverpool are yet to have their asking price met.

Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Sassuolo have now opened talks with Liverpool for Grujic.

Selling Grujic could be huge for Liverpool

It's almost embarrassing to say but selling Grujic soon could help Liverpool massively as it will see some cash injected to help them complete transfers of their own.

Unfortunately, the Reds are forced to watch the likes of Manchester United splash the cash to sign Jadon Sancho while they are required to sell to buy.

It's the main criticism supporters have of FSG as you can only wonder how successful Liverpool might be if Jurgen Klopp wasn't forced to penny pinch in the transfer market.

The Anfield outfit still needs to sign a new attacker and a midfielder to replace Georginio Wijnaldum after the Dutchman secured a free transfer to PSG.

Who can Liverpool sign this summer?

While Ibrahima Konate has been signed and is already on day four of his first pre-season with the club but with first-choice targets being snapped up left right and centre, Liverpool are being forced to move onto second-choice options.

Klopp seems destined to miss out on Donyell Malen after Borussia Dortmund reached an agreement with him on personal terms.

Meanwhile, the German also seems set to lose out on Spanish ace Saul as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have held advanced talks over a swap deal involving Antoine Griezmann.
