Friendly vs RB Leipzig could be a scouting mission for Liverpool - Leipzig full of potential signings

Friendly vs RB Leipzig could be a scouting mission for Liverpool - Leipzig full of potential signings

Liverpool travel to Germany in the third leg of their pre-season tour as they are set to face RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena.

The Reds have conducted business over the years with the club having signed Naby Keita in 2018 and Ibrahima Konate last summer.

It stands to reason that the club may eventually sign another player from this team which includes several players of interest. The Reds have a strong with the RB network, having also signed Takumi Minamino from Salzburg.

With 90 minutes to analyse their squad, manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping he can scout out the 'next Konate' or the 'next Keita' for a potential future signing.

Who could Liverpool be scouting?

Christopher Nkunku

Beginning with the star man, Christopher Nkunku is fresh off the back of an unbelievably good season which saw him notch 52 goal contributions in 50 games whilst helping his side to win the DFB-Pokal and reach the Europa League semi-finals.

Currently valued at £72M, the French forward has attracted attention from Europe's elite but will be staying in Germany for at least another season.

His versatility and pace can be compared to that of Sadio Mane and, in particular, the Mane of last season who played more in a central attacking role.

Nkunku would be a high-profile attacking signing but does seem unrealistic for the near future given Liverpool already have Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.

Dominik Szoboszlai

The Hungarian attacking midfielder attracted a lot of hype whilst playing for RB Salzburg before making the move over to Leipzig.

His ability to score from distance, take set-pieces and overall attacking play has caught the eye, even if he hasn't quite hit the heights for the German side as of yet.

Still only 21, he could prove a good signing in the future, given the ages of some of Liverpool's ageing midfield.

Expect a raised smile from Klopp if the midfielder manages to score from distance today.

Amadou Haidara

With Liverpool linked with mostly midfielders this summer, they could do a lot worse than Amadou Haidara.

The powerful midfielder would be comfortable in a two or three-man midfield and at 24 has bags of experience on his side.

He could provide back-up for Fabinho as well as help to plug gaps in midfield.

Linked with Manchester United in the January window, he will most likely get a move to the Premier League in the coming years.

Konrad Laimer

Another midfielder who could make the move would be Konrad Laimer. He is out of contract next summer and could sign a pre-agreement in January next year if no new deal is agreed.

Currently valued at £25M, the Austrian is a versatile midfielder who can play central or defensive midfield as well as fill in at right-back if needed.

Still only 25, he's very much an all-round player, perhaps similar to James Milner, who offers solidity, calmness on the ball and the occasional goal from midfield.

He scored five and assisted six goals in 42 games last year and would be a solid addition to their midfield - given that one or two of the current roster leaves.
