Former £180k-a-week Klopp favourite offered to Jose Mourinho – Could still cut it at Anfield

Former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has been offered to Jose Mourinho at Roma.

Having left Anfield for the glitz and glamour of PSG, the Dutch midfielder has discovered that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Despite helping PSG to win the Ligue 1 title, he only started 18 times in the league and only three times in the Champions League.

With rumours of unrest on his part, the midfielder has been offered to Roma - but Liverpool fans would surely welcome back Wijnaldum if it were possible.

Georginio Wijnaldum transfer listed by PSG

Despite being a key player for club and country during his time at Liverpool, Wijnaldum has struggled to hold down a first-team place and is being offered to clubs around Europe.

This comes from the French publication L’Équipe, who claims the midfielder has been transfer listed.

Wages could be an issue with the former Newcastle player earning £180k a week in France - a far cry from the £86k a week he made at Liverpool.

Reports from Il Messaggero in Italy claim that he has been offered to Mourinho's Roma - but a deal is considered unlikely.

Liverpool's stance on signing Wijnaldum

The Reds have been linked with signing a midfielder this summer but it seems Wijnaldum won't be making a fairytale return to Merseyside.

This comes from a report from the Liverpool Echo - they claim that Klopp is happy with his midfield options heading into the new season.

They had previously described the rumours as 'nonsense' with their incoming business done for the summer.

Links continue to circulate around Matheus Nunes from Sporting CP, with the midfielder boasting similar qualities to Wijnaldum - he would be available around the £43m mark.

Whilst the Reds have only signed attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho, Klopp looks set to give Harvey Elliot and Curtis Jones more game-time, rather than look to sign another midfielder.

They also have experience in abundance with the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Thiago - but with those players reaching the twilight of their careers, it could leave Liverpool shortchanged throughout the season.
