“The deal is done”: Stunning ace that has “met with Jurgen Klopp” scored last night ahead of imminent move to Liverpool

Liverpool have wrapped up negotiations with Fulham to sign Fabio Carvalho and with fans waiting to receive an official announcement from the club, the stunning ace scored last night.

This may be forthcoming in the next few weeks after a tweet from Fabrizio Romano hinted at when the Reds will unveil Carvalho as a new Red.

The 19-year-old is a sumptuous player and while he may be playing in the Championship, his 10 goals and 7 assists are still impressive as he has been rotated in and out of the starting XI by Marco Silva.

Fabio Carvalho

On Tuesday evening, while Liverpool were embarrassing Manchester United at Anfield, Carvalho scored a wonderful goal for the Cottagers which should get fans excited.

One of the major criticisms of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has been that his midfield has often been too functional and lacks a goal threat, with Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Thiago not exactly prolific in terms of goals or assists.

These critiques have been diluted due to the fact that the Reds’ front three is so potent that goals from midfield aren’t often required.

Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz

United conceded four on Tuesday and Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah (2) and Sadio Mane were the goalscorers.

However, adding Carvalho to the mix, an attacking midfielder by nature, could be a hint at a subtle tweak to Liverpool’s system in the summer ahead of next season and the Portuguese midfielder’s goal against Preston North End provides some context.

When Aleksandar Mitrovic won his aerial duel in midfield, knocking the ball onto Neeskens Kebano, you can see Carvalho turn on the jets to race into space in order to receive the ball.

He then ran about 40 yards to get into the box, outstripping his marker before the ball was played via a deflection into his path.

What impressed me even more than his instinct to race into space as soon as Kebano was able to run at the PNE defence was the way Carvalho finished his chance.

The ball bounced up inside the box as a result of the deflection on Kebano’s pass but Carvalho reacted quickest, dispatching a looping finish into the far corner to give Fulham a 2-0 lead.

Craven Cottage erupted as the 19-year-old wheeled away in celebration, with the London outfit clinching promotion on Tuesday evening as the game ended 3-0 after 90 minutes.

His reaction to Mitrovic and Kebano linking up was unlike anything Klopp coaches his midfielders on.

Jordan Henderson is in the side to help slow the game down and steady things when the Reds are losing a handle on the tempo of a game, Fabinho’s job is to disrupt the rhythm of opponents while Thiago’s remit is to dictate the flow of the game as he sees fit.

Fabio Carvalho

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have completed negotiations with Fulham and Carvalho will join the Reds this summer with an announcement on the way soon.

He said: “The deal is done, 100 percent. The player has already visited the training ground, met with Jurgen Klopp, had his medical with Fulham’s permission.

“So everything is done between Fabio Carvalho and Liverpool. It’s a good deal I think for Fulham and a very interesting deal for Liverpool because they’ve signed a top talent.”
