Liverpool make approach to sign midfielder; he gets one goal and three assists in one match

Liverpool target Emiliano Buendia had a hand in four goals against Huddersfield Town after the Reds approached the Canaries about signing him.

Yesterday, we reported that Buendia is a player of interest to Jurgen Klopp and the 24-year-old has shown why the Reds rate him so highly.

Norwich are certain to return to the Premier League, leading the Championship by eight points and they sent a strong message ahead of next season with a five-star display against Huddersfield Town.

Central to the performance was Buendia, with the Argentinian scoring a fine goal from outside the box, before assisting three goals to take his tally for the season to 27 goal contributions in 33 games from attacking midfield.

Liverpool have struggled to score or create from the engine room this season, with an over-reliance on their fullbacks for chance creation.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson have not been at their best this term and are in need of some assistance to free them of the pressure of shouldering their team's creative responsibilities.

While we're yet to receive word on how Liverpool's enquiries for Buendia were received by Norwich, the expectation is that they will be unwilling to part ways with the midfielder. If they are open to selling him, he won't come cheap as he has three years left on his contract at Carrow Road.

Not only would Buendia add creativity to Liverpool's midfield but he would add a goal threat that has been missing ever since Philippe Coutinho moved to Barcelona. While the Reds have achieved great things since his departure, it might be time for a tweak to the system at Anfield which would make room for someone like Norwich City's no.17.

If a deal could be agreed with Norwich, it would likely be easy to convince Buendia to make the switch. He'd be paid handsomely and would go from challenging for the Championship title to challenging for the Premier League and the Champions League.

Not bad.
