Dutch contract rebel could make Liverpool move

Dutch star Memphis Depay has opened the door for a move to Liverpool after confirming he hasn't decided his future yet.

The Olympique Lyonnais attacker has been in spectacular form this season. With 20 goals and 10 assists in 36 Ligue 1 matches, Depay being available on a free represents a huge bargain.

Barcelona had looked certain to sign him, but there has been a twist. The Dutchman confirmed to French publication L'Equipe that he is talking to multiple clubs, despite interest from the Catalans.

Liverpool look as if they may struggle for cash this summer. So, a free signing of Depay's quality then looks like a great chance. However, there will certainly be competition for the Dutchman's signature.

As well as Barcelona, Juventus have apparently registered their interest in signing the 27-year-old.

The Dutchman would command a significant salary from these clubs, and Liverpool could struggle to compete. However, should the opportunity arise for the Anfield club to bring him in, it's a move that would make sense.

Having been one of the best players in Ligue 1 since his move from Manchester United, he'd be a bargain for the Reds.

Outside of Mohamed Salah, no Liverpool player has reached double figures for goals in the league this season. That desperately needs to change if Liverpool are to compete for the title again next season.

Depay also provides a threat from long range, which few of Liverpool's forward options do. Only six of the Reds' 66 Premier League goals of the season have come from outside the area. Depay on the other hand has scored four this season alone.

However, at 27-years-old, he'd be yet another member of the Reds squad in their late 20's. Jurgen Klopp will surely be looking for a more youthful option.

If cash is tight though, there aren't many better value for money options.
