Liverpool have a clinical £45m sensation that isn't getting enough credit - Pep Lijnders absolutely loves him

Diogo Jota already has two goals this season and after Jurgen Klopp put him on the bench against Chelsea, he clearly isn't getting the credit he deserves.

When the Portuguese returned to pre-season, Pep Lijnders was delighted and wrote about him in his training camp diary.

He wrote: "While I’m sitting here and writing, Diogo just shook me ‘awake’ saying hello. It’s great to see him – fresh, fit and ready. Our pressing monster just arrived! Haha!"

Liverpool signed Jota from Wolves for £45million and while injury held him back last season he can really explode into life this season.

Roberto Firmino is injured now but aside from the start against Chelsea, he seems to have given way to Jota as a starter although the fact that Klopp doesn't trust him in big games shows he isn't getting the credit he deserves.

He's already got two goals in two starts this term and he scored 13 times last season despite a serious knee injury that forced him to miss 19 games.

Klopp must now put his faith in Jota to spearhead Liverpool's attack and I have little doubt that he will be repaid. Not only can the former Wolves star provide him with the goals he needs but he also has the ability to turn under pressure which only Sadio Mane can rival.

His goal against Brighton last season was incredible as he silkily slid across the box and finished across the goal in what can only be described as a Lionel Messi-esque fashion.

Liverpool are to be without Fabinho, Alisson and Firmino vs. Leeds due to the FIFA ban but the latter would have missed the game anyway due to injury and now is Jota's chance to once again show Klopp why he must be the first choice pick at striker this season.

I genuinely believe Jota is an outside shout for the Premier League golden boot this season but only if he gets the minutes he needs and can avoid needless injuries.
