'Elite' player has "informed" his club he wants to join Liverpool: Reds plan to complete move to sign him this week

Liverpool target Calvin Ramsay has informed Aberdeen that he wants to move to Anfield and the Reds plan to complete a deal to sign him this week.

Labelled an "elite" player by chairman Dave Cormack, he is seen as the perfect player to come in and compete with Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Scouser doesn't have anyone competing with him for his spot in the starting XI but Ramsay could be that player.

The 18-year-old has 1 goal and 9 assists this season and is known in Scotland for his adventurous attacking mindset and fantastic delivery.

Sounds like exactly what Liverpool look for in fullbacks and Ramsay has reportedly "informed" Aberdeen that he wants to sign for the Reds this summer.

According to the Times, Julian Ward "will look to tie up the transfer" of the Scottish fullback and while Leeds United have shown interest, he "prefers a move to Merseyside."

Jurgen Klopp cannot offer him a fast-tracked path into the starting lineup but he can sweeten a move to Anfield by offering the chance to win silverware.

That would be otherwise unlikely if he opted for a move to Elland Road.

Leeds can offer him regular game time but aren't able to offer the chance to conquer England and Europe.

Liverpool came very close to a historic quadruple this season but ultimately had to make do with just two domestic cups.

It's going to be exciting to see them bounce back from the disappointment of losing out on the Premier League and the Champions League in the space of a week.

They will have to do it without Sadio Mane, who looks set to join Bayern Munich once the Reds settle on a fee for the Senegalese.

This summer's transfers are vital as Liverpool face an unexpected period of transition as they lose one of their best players in recent history.
