Liverpool make 'official' move to sign 'powerful 24-year-old' before deadline day - Reds must pay £40million

Brighton reportedly want £40million for Yves Bissouma after Liverpool made an official enquiry for the Seagulls' midfielder this week.

According to the Daily Express' Tony Banks, Liverpool have made "an official enquiry" over signing Yves Bissouma before Deadline Day and have been told to pay £40million to sign him.

The journalist writes: "Klopp though faces competition for Bissouma, 24, from Manchester United and Arsenal, who have also been tracking the powerful 24-year-old."

Anfield Central covered Liverpool's interest in the Brighton star at the start of the summer but were told that the Reds backed off when they were told to pay £50million.

We've not been told anything exclusive recently but if Liverpool are now in a position to land him for £10m less than their original asking price, it would be a great deal for Michael Edwards to pounce on.

It remains to be seen if this is a case of linking Liverpool with a well-known target just before the transfer window ends for clicks or if there is genuine interest.

According to Duncan Castles, who was speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Liverpool are interested in a late move to sign the 24-year-old but time will tell if the Merseysiders will use their last non-homegrown spot to sign Bissouma this summer.

Bissouma is the ideal FSG signing. He's still only 24 so he's about to enter his prime years as a midfielder but can still make a massive impact on Liverpool while will also likely be willing to accept a place on the bench in the early stages of his career at Anfield.

If he joined, his career trajectory with the Reds would be similar to Diogo Jota's but hopefully without a major injury in his first season at the club.

The former Wolves star played a significant role in his first half term with the club but he accepted that he had to compete with Roberto Firmino for a place in the side.

Similarly, Bissouma will need to compete with a host of players to start in Jurgen Klopp's midfield but he has all the tools necessary to become a fantastic player for Liverpool.

Hopefully, FSG sanction this signing for the Reds but I still think an attacking signing is more important so if this doesn't go through it won't be a huge train smash.
