"Born in a rondo": Pep Lijnders says Liverpool have a supremely talented player on their hands

Liverpool's Pep Lijnders joked that Thiago was 'born in a rondo' in a new video helping to advertise his new book 'Intensity'.

The Liverpool assistant coach has been key to helping the Reds achieve real success over the last five years.

His latest book charts all the ups and downs, transfers, tactics and stories from behind the scenes all in one place.

Perfectly advertised by the club's official YouTube channel, every player received a book and then a compliment from the assistant coach.

Comments on Thiago

Lijnders sought out Thiago to give him a copy of his new book before turning to the camera to say: "I think he was born in a rondo!"

He then gushed over his midfielder claiming "They are not many who could make our team better, but he is one of them."

The midfielder, humbled by those comments, laughed before claiming "With those guys, it's easy!"

Thiago, 31, will be hoping to start more than the 17 games he managed in the league season - but he's only managed to start more than 20 games twice in his career - which is the only downside to his brilliance.

Thiago's influence

When Lijnders joked saying "There's not many who could make us better" he wasn't wrong. Thiago's career has always been at the top level; as part of Barcelona and Bayern Munich winning trophies and praise across almost his whole career as an elite CM.

Standing out as one of the most gifted technical midfielders in the world, it was almost astonishing that Bayern let him go. Liverpool brought in a mature, creative and clever midfielder - capable of retaining the ball against any opposition and with the vision to help this side become harder to beat.

Last season, he averaged a pass completion in the league of 89.2%, a long ball pass completion of 82% as well as averaging 3.58 shot-creating actions per 90 on top of that.

Thiago's passing range, vision and quality have made Liverpool a better side.
