Arsenal already offered £34M as Liverpool ready to make bid to sign £42M midfield titan - Reds preparing offer

Liverpool are reportedly ready to table a bid for a new midfield target to help solve their current injury crisis ahead of the new season.

The Reds are currently sweating on their midfield depth with Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out for at least another month.

Furthermore, Thiago, one of their starting midfielders, only started 17 games in the league last season and there are doubts over the reliability of Naby Keita as well.

Could the Reds move for a new midfielder before the window closes? According to the latest reports they could be about to move for AC Milan's Ismael Bennacer.

Latest reports on Bennacer

Italian outlet CMW claims Liverpool are preparing an offer of ‘just under’ £34million for AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer.

Bennacer, 24, has been excellent over the last three seasons for Milan.

Hafid Derradji of Bein Sports claims there is concrete interest in the midfielder from a host of Premier League clubs - but they don't want to sell having lost Frank Kessie to Barcelona.

Arsenal have made an offer of £34million according to the latest reports to bring him back to the Premier League this summer, having left Arsenal in 2017.

How would he fit in?

Despite Klopp claiming today that "we can’t solve problems we have with a transfer” the Reds could accommodate the midfielder given his quality.

The Reds have been heavily linked with Jude Bellingham and Matheus Nunes, but both look like targets for next summer.

The issues come when you consider the number of midfielders in the squad; outside of the three starters (Fabinho, Thiago and Jordan Henderson) there's still Harvey Elliot, Fabio Carvalho, James Milner, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - it's a big group of players.

Signing a midfielder for the short term is not what Liverpool do and it seems like they will just ride out the injuries to Jones and Chamberlain and hope across the course of the season they can cope with what is the same midfield as last season.
