'I am told' - Fabrizio Romano explains what he knows about £51.5m Liverpool target
Fabrizio Romano says that Liverpool target Alexander Isak is not for sale this summer as Real Sociedad want to sell him in 2022.
The Reds are in the market for a new forward to help Roberto Firmino lead the Liverpool line and Alexander Isak has caught the eye.
Liverpool are tracking Real Sociedad ‘battering ram’ Alexander Isak, according to local newspaper Noticias de Gipuzkoa.
The Basque newspaper claims that Liverpool have been tracking Isak and have been really impressed by his form this season and want to sign him as a replacement for Firmino “in the not too distant future.”
His release clause is set at £60million (£51.5m) which surely means that if Liverpool can’t negotiate a lower fee then they likely won’t be pursuing him.
The situation is further complicated by a new report from AS which claims that Arsenal have made contact with his agent and are prepared to trigger his £70m exit clause.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has said that Real Sociedad aren't keen on selling him until next summer: “Yes, he has some chances, but I am told that Real Sociedad want to keep him this summer and sell him in 2022 because they’re convinced he can show some skills and add to his value in one year.
"It won’t be easy because some clubs are interested, but it will be for over €60m."
Signing Isak seems unlikely this summer as the Basque outfit simply don't want to part ways with a forward that has shone at the EUROs, blowing viewers away with impressive close control and a desire to carry Sweden's attacking threat.
Anfield Central recently revealed that Liverpool are planning talks to sign Donyell Malen after the EUROs but even though the Dutchman is reportedly valued at just £25million, his value could go through the roof with a few glittering displays for Holland.
For PSV Eindhoven this season, the 22-year-old scored 27 goals and got 10 assists but his electric ability to burst past players is what has me excited.
His combination of pace and physicality would help him become a success with Liverpool and given he played for Arsenal in their youth ranks, it would also be a great way to show a Premier League up.
