Erling Haaland’s cousin, Albert Tjaaland, says he’s a Liverpool fan and wants to move to the Premier League one day.
Still just 17, Haaland’s cousin is starting his career off at Molde after he netted 49 goals in 48 games at youth level for Bryne.
Interviewed by Rising Ballers, Tjaaland was asked if he wanted to play in the Premier League and, if so, for which team. To which, he responded: “Of course. I want to play in the best league in the world – my favourite team is Liverpool.”
It might be a long time before the Reds become a viable destination for the young forward but Liverpool fans are hopeful of seeing his cousin, Erling Haaland, move to Anfield in the coming transfer window.
It’s unlikely that the Norwegian will leave Borussia Dortmund this summer due to the costs involved and the fact that his contract at the Westfalenstadion only expires in June 2024 and his contract clause only becomes active at the end of next season.
After he assisted Marco Reus against Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, Haaland took his goals and assists tally for the season to 42 in 33 games.
He might not have scored himself but there was a moment with Ruben Dias when he outmuscled him and sent the Portuguese flying before his shot on goal was saved by Ederson.
It might be best that Haaland is likely to stay at Dortmund this summer because with the Reds battling to finish inside the top four, it would be difficult to persuade him to join them off the back of their disappointing season.
Liverpool are looking to sign Ibrahima Konate and have agreed personal terms with him while they remain locked in negotiations with RB Leipzig over the fee as they look to use his injury history as a reason to lower his value.
