£15m Deal agreed for 'rapid' winger shows Liverpool may have missed out on bargain signing

One of Liverpool's targets has agreed a £15m deal to join another Premier League team - have the Reds missed out on a bargain signing?

Liverpool has had previous links in the past to Watford's Ismalia Sarr, the Senegalese winger had been somewhat successful in the PL in the past and had caught the eye of many a side.

However, since the Hornets were relegated last season, Sarr is now playing beneath his level in the Championship but has also seen his value lowered.

This has seen Leeds come in for the powerful winger - with the Yorkshire side close to agreeing a deal - with some fans perhaps questioning why their club didn't go all in on a bargain deal.

Would Sarr have fit in at Liverpool?

With Liverpool only having Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah as natural wingers, it does leave short in those areas - despite the fact that Harvey Elliot, Fabio Carvalho and Diogo Jota (when fit) can fill in those areas.

However, there is a huge drop-off in quality when/if that does happen, and Sarr could have been a perfect backup on either wing.

Especially given his pace and unique physical profile that sees him as a tall and powerful winger which would be a nightmare to deal with off the bench for opposing teams.

Furthermore, he could help fill the void left by his national teammate Sadio Mane.

Leeds are close to agreeing a fee for Sarr and many PL teams will be disappointed by the news given his PL experience, low price tag and ability off either wing.

The likes of Newcastle, any of the promoted clubs and even top sides would have had their eye on the winger at the bargain price being reported.

For Liverpool, he wasn't a target this summer but he had been linked in previous years. He could fit in at Liverpool given he is a decent presser - registering in the 69th percentile for pressures - a trait that Klopp likes in his players.

Klopp will rely on the incredible fitness of Salah and Diaz this season but as back-up's go, Sarr would have been a perfect option off the bench.
