Alexander-Arnold injury update after stunning display vs. Aston Villa

Trent Alexander-Arnold was superb for Liverpool during Sunday's 3-0 win over Aston Villa as the Reds picked up their third successive Premier League win this season.

While much of the talk over the last few weeks has been about incoming transfers, Jurgen Klopp's side has quietly made a very good start to the season.

AND... no red cards this week!

Since being held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea on the opening day of the campaign, the Anfield outfit has beaten Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

They now sit third in the table but will have to wait until after the international break to continue their unbeaten start.

Mohamed Salah (8.2) received WhoScored's Man of the Match but without Alexander-Arnold (7.8), the Reds may have found it more difficult to dominate the entire Anfield pitch.

The Scouser recorded an elite 91% pass accuracy despite the risky and ambitious passes he was spraying to his teammates.

In addition to his frightening accuracy, the 24-year-old played five key passes and was constantly finding space in the Villa midfield and with his incredible passing range, he was constantly playing Salah, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz into dangerous areas.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Arsenal icon Ian Wright said Unai Emery's side allowed the likes of Trent too much space to work their magic.

“Well, he did pull strings,” said Wright. “When you look at this situation, it’s the kind of situation I am sure Liverpool would have seen, looking at Villa and looking at their high line and what they are going to do.

“You would have loved to have seen Darwin Nunez score that one, but look at that space. If you are Unai Emery, you are saying ‘if this situation happens, then get closer to him because the line we are going to have is high’.

“You could see the three Liverpool players, they are all ready in their blocks ready to go and, before you know it, Trent Alexander-Arnold having that much time, it’s space for players to run into.”

Could Alexander-Arnold be a key player in England's Euro 2024 preparations?

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been called up to the Three Lions' squad to face Ukraine and Scotland in qualifiers for the Euros set to take place next summer.

While the Liverpool defender has regularly been snubbed by Gareth Southgate, the England manager can only ignore his obvious quality for so long.

Last season, he assisted 10 goals and bagged four of his own despite the issues Liverpool faced last season.

This season, he has had a slightly shaky start but looked very impressive on Sunday against Villa as he wore the captain's armband in Virgil van Dijk's absence.

Trent Alexander-Arnold injury latest

The right-back was withdrawn from the game after 71 minutes after an issue with his hamstring.

After full-time, Klopp assured the assembled journalists that Alexander-Arnold is confident the issue isn't serious.

He said: “I don’t know exactly. I asked him, he said it’s [his] hamstring.

“‘Not too serious’ is his opinion, but we obviously have to wait for the scans and then we will know more.”

Liverpool will assess the issue before further updates are provided.
