Marc Guehi is a high probability starter against Wales as the Three Lions look forward to a friendly before their FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Latvia.
Thomas Tuchel has managed to help England win five out of five matches in a rather easy group consisting of Albania, Latvia, Serbia and Andorra.
Guehi is also doing pretty well with Crystal Palace, despite the Englishman almost having signed for Liverpool in the summer. With Arne Slot running thin on reinforcements, the rumours are still on about the defender’s move to Anfield.
The summer seemed fruitful for Slot as the Dutchman managed to bring in a hoard of talented footballers to Merseyside. Unfortunately, Guehi missed out on a move following Palace’s failure to sign a replacement in time.
Brazilian Igor Julio chose the East of London as the centre-backs signed for West Ham United instead of making home at Selhurst Park.

Before the game against their sister nation, Guehi saw a few questions thrown around regarding his future. Despite the high certainty of a move, the Palace captain seems to be highly focused on the now, as always.
“For me, it doesn’t matter. As long as I’m playing well for Palace, there is an opportunity for me to be here. Whether it’s sorted or not, it doesn’t matter for me.”
He also mentioned that he liked to take things step by step. His future is a hot topic, only fueled by his failed move to Liverpool and a contract that expires in 2026.
“Personally, I don’t know if I can think that far ahead. I like to just take it step by step, and that is just focusing on the games that I have at Palace and any upcoming opportunities I have here.”
Real Madrid’s interest and Ibrahima Konate angle
Even after a failed transfer, the Reds remained the front-runners to sign the Englishman. However, the arrival of Real Madrid has stirred things up a bit.
The Spanish giants have shown interest in Guehi, and at one point, there were reports of the centre-back preferring a move to Spain over Anfield.
However, Slot’s eye remains on the Palace captain as the Dutchman is facing a small crisis in Merseyside. With Giovanni Leoni injured and Ibrahima Koante’s future uncertain, Slot needs to make a move in January to have a chance at defending the title.
Los Blancos are also interested in Konate. The Frenchman’s contract also expires at the end of the season, and there are no confirmations regarding his future yet.
