Liverpool to trigger £55M release clause for one of Europe’s best young players

Heading into this summer transfer window, Liverpool have made it clear that they will operate cautiously.

The reds will be careful not to overspend on players after recent transfers. This season, Federico Chiesa has failed to impress despite signing on a £12million deal. Chiesa has rarely been fit, and when he has played, the results have been disappointing.

ESPN pundit Steve Nicol slammed the Italian for his awful display against Plymouth:

“The guy’s got a European winner’s medal. But he’s been an absolute bust today. If you’re Slot you’ll be lying in bed thinking, ‘I hope I don’t need him’.”

Liverpool’s exit from the FA Cup has prompted serious discussions about the team’s squad depth. The options off the bench have rarely impacted games this season.

The team’s depth will be a real focus heading into the summer window. Liverpool are reportedly eyeing significant changes to the squad, especially in attack. Mohamed Salah has carried the team upfront, and Cody Gakpo has been the only one close to offering him support in games. The reds will reportedly listen to offers for Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota. AC Milan already have an offer ready for the Uruguayan this summer.

Liverpool are ready to trigger the release clause of one of the Premier League’s best players this season. TBR report that Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has a £55million release clause in his current deal. The 19-year old arrived in England last year, and has been a standout performer. Huijsen is expected to have many suitors in the summer window, with Liverpool leading the pack.

Huijsen deal is rare gold

In the modern transfer market, the price rarely matches the ability of the player. But having seen what Huijsen has offered in his short Premier League career; £55million is a bargain. The defender has proven himself one of the best youngsters in Europe. With that price tag, a lot of European clubs will show interest.

Liverpool have a serious opportunity to benefit from this deal. Just like when they signed Van Dijk for £75million from Southampton, this could be another significant move. The reds already know that Van Dijk could leave in the summer, recruiting a talent like Huijsen would be a perfect fit.

A center back pairing of Ibrahima Konate and Dean Huijsen could be the mainstay at Anfield for the next five years.
