Liverpool tipped to offer new contract to forward

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has a lot on his plate at the moment as he looks to sort out agreements over a new deal with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

The club are prioritising clarifying the future of these three stalwarts with Van Dijk seeming to be the player who is the closest to agreeing on a new contract with the club.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is still flirting with a move to Real Madrid and Mohamed Salah wants the club to show him some respect and offer him a three-year contract before he agrees to stay on at Anfield.

Liverpool are also in talks with defender Ibrahima Konate over a new deal and will open negotiations with Andy Robertson’s agents with regards to fresh terms at the end of the season.

However, other players in the squad are due new contracts as well and Liverpool are expected to move on those talks in the coming months.

In-form attacker tipped for a new contract at Anfield

Mohamed Salah has again been the most potent attacking threat in the Liverpool squad this season. However, he has been ably supported by Luis Diaz.

The Colombian winger has come to the fore this season and scored nine times in 15 appearances across all competitions this season.

Diaz was indeed linked with a move away from Liverpool last summer when Barcelona were interested in taking him to the Nou Camp.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the winger indeed had options to leave Liverpool at the end of last season.

Arne Slot and sporting director Hughes spoke with the player to convince him about the new project and to continue at Anfield despite interest from top clubs in Europe.

Romano added that it would be no surprise if Liverpool make a move to tie down Diaz to a new contract once they sort out fresh terms with Konate.

Diaz has a contract until 2027 with Liverpool and the club are not in immediate danger of potentially losing him for a small fee.

However, his performances this season are likely to push the club to offer him a new deal as a reward.
