Liverpool have several tough decisions to make regarding transfers as there are question marks over several of their players in the coming months.
The contract wrangle involving Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah has been making all the noise as they close in on the exit date of their current deals.
The trio could leave on a free transfer at the end of the season and Liverpool are scrambling to make sure that they hold on to three of their stalwarts beyond the end of the ongoing season.
However, there are other issues in their squad as well and there are a few other players who have question marks hanging over their futures as well.
Caoimhin Kelleher wanted to leave last summer and Nottingham Forest were interested but Liverpool blocked his departure.
The Ireland goalkeeper has been urged to leave Anfield to play more football as many feel he is far too good to spend most of his time on the bench behind Alisson Becker.
Pundit tips Kelleher for a shock move
Kelleher is likely to move on from Anfield next summer with Liverpool finally ready to sanction his sale to allow him to play more football.
Several clubs in the Premier League are likely to be interested in the Irishman and he is also expected to attract offers from major teams in continental Europe.
However, Chris Sutton has picked a club out of the left field for Kelleher if he moves on from Merseyside in the next summer transfer window.
The ex-striker believes a move to his former club Celtic would be good for the Liverpool goalkeeper.
Can you name the club Liverpool signed these players from?
However, he admitted that given his reputation, Kelleher is not likely to join the Scottish champions at this stage of his career.
“I mean, he could move anywhere, couldn’t he, really? He’s the best back-up keeper, I think, I’ve ever seen in the Premier League”, Sutton said on the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast.
“Anyway, where should Kelleher go to?
“Celtic. That won’t happen in Celtic, but because of his Irish roots, Celtic.”
Kelleher has again been putting in some solid performances for Liverpool in Alisson’s absence but it seems more than likely that his long-term future lies away from Anfield.
