Liverpool are still dealing with contract issues during this January transfer window.
The Reds are top of the Premier League and Champions League group phase, there is a lot of chatter at Anfield over the futures of key players. Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil Van Dijk are yet to put pen to paper on new deals at Anfield.
Despite all the noise outside the club, Arne Slot has guided his team through an impressive first half of the season. As of January, Liverpool are still in contention for all competitions. The Dutch coach has been a revelation for his side, as he has gotten the best out of players who failed to impress last year. The likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have played key roles this season.

Liverpool also have a few players whose contracts will expire in the next year. Ibrahima Konate is one of them, the French defender has established himself at the club and formed a solid defensive partnership with Virgil Van Dijk. The former RB Liepzig star revealed recently that he has been offered a new deal by the club, with his current contract up in 2026.
Another player who has just over a year remaining on his current contract is Caoimhin Kelleher. The Irish international has proven himself to be a capable deputy to Alisson over the past year. The 26-year old was impressive during his short stint in goal this season when Alisson was out with injury. Kelleher is now on the radar of Premier League clubs including Chelsea.
Danny Murphy has revealed that the keeper could also be on his way out of Liverpool:
“My understanding is that Kelleher will leave and there won’t be short of takers, he is an outstanding goalkeeper and deserves the chance to go and be a number one.
“I think he will get a really good move and Alisson will have a season in front of Mamardashvili to help him learn and get settled.
“Where could Kelleher go? Well, I think Chelsea’s an obvious one, although I think Robert Sanchez is improving hugely. I think he gets some unfair criticism for a few mistakes here in the season. I think he’s actually a really good goalkeeper.
“…I think for Kelleher, Newcastle or Chelsea are two wonderful options for him.”
What do the Reds do with Kelleher?
The best optionn for the player and the club would be a move in the summer. With the pending arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili next season, there is a slim chance the Irish international stays. Kelleher has around 18 months left, cashing in on him will be the best choice.
