The Liverpool boss made the decision to let Jayden Danns go on loan, so there will be one less striking option available. The Reds suffered an unfortunate setback in the game against Bournemouth. Trent Alexander-Arnold went down in the 70th minute and immediately called for a substitution. The injury looked bad as the defender was helped off the pitch.
Paul Joyce has provided an update on Trent Alexander-Arnold. Scans on the defender revealed he has suffered a thigh injury. But the good news is that he will be out for a few days, rather than weeks. Liverpool plan to be cautious with the injury, and will not take any risks. So expect Alexander-Arnold to be on the bench for the game against Spurs on Wednesday night, and possibly this weekend’s FA Cup tie with Plymouth.
Trent must be rested for long season ahead
Liverpool need to wrap Trent Alexander-Arnold with wool over the next week. Arne Slot must make the conscious decision not to risk aggravating the thigh injury. This month is packed full of fixtures ahead of the international break in March.
The reds would hate to lose such a key player for long stretches at this point of the season. Conor Bradley can deputize for Trent in the next few games. Joe Gomez is also set to return from injury in the coming days.
