Liverpool had a tough week as the Reds lost another game, bringing the record to three. Chelsea wonder kid Estevao scored a winner in the 95th minute as the Merseysiders saw a point slip right through their fingers during injury time.
Former Manchester United full-back Gary Neville thrashed Liverpool after their performance at Stamford Bridge. Neville claimed that the team wasn’t lost from the start, but didn’t bother in the last 15 minutes.
“They’ve lost this game because in the last 15-20 minutes, their creative players, their players in the final half of the pitch, the midfield players and the forwards were absolutely useless”, Neville told Sky Sports.
Moises Caicedo opened the scoresheet as the Ecuadorian sent a screamer into the top left corner at the 14th-minute mark. Liverpool seemed like they were catching up, though, as Cody Gakpo netted one in the 63rd minute.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough as just like against Crystal Palace, the Reds lost in injury time. Against Palace, Eddie Nketiah sealed the deal, and at Stamford Bridge, it was 18-year-old Brazilian Estevao.

Gakpo, who scored in the 63rd minute, wasn’t comfortable with the idea of a last-minute goal and claimed that the Reds were the better team overall.
“It’s difficult. I think obviously we play against a really good team. First half, they scored an amazing goal, but I think it was level. Second half, we fought really hard for the equaliser, and we played a little better than them, but they were dangerous on the counter. To concede last minute is hard to take”, Cody told Sky Sports.
The Dutchman was also asked about the team’s alleged poor performance. “I don’t want to say low on confidence. I understand what you mean.”

On awareness and playing at big clubs
The Dutch international also mentioned that the players are aware of what’s expected of them, and this is normal when playing at big clubs.
“At this time, things don’t fall our way. Maybe five games ago, they did fall our way. This is part of football. We have to take it on our chests and keep on fighting. We have to keep pushing.”
“When you play at a club this big, it’s normal when you lose three games in a row that it’s not good enough. We know that as players. We are very much aware of the situation. We know what to do, which is going back to the winning ways.”
