Liverpool are no strangers to signing players from other Premier League clubs.
The reds built their spine under Jurgen Klopp from signing key players from fellow clubs. Virgil Van Dijk joined from Southampton and Andrew Robertson moved from Hull City when they were relegated. Liverpool found bargains in Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum from Southampton and Newcastle respectively.
With this core of players, Liverpool were able to win almost every trophy under Jurgen Klopp. The club won the Premier League, Champions League, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup among others. Michael Edwards led the recruitment to find these players on valuable deals.
This summer’s transfer window will be under new management, but Liverpool fans will hope they can repeat the success of previous years.

It has been made clear that heading into next season, the reds will focus on two key areas during recruitment. Fabrizio Romano reported that Liverpool will be in the market for a new defender. With Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold set to leave at the end of the season, reinforcements will be needed. The reds will also be looking for quality in attack. Reports suggest Liverpool will be in the market for a new striker as well as some depth up front. Arne Slot has not been happy with Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz this season. Brighton’s Joao Pedro has been named on the list of potential targets.
According to Gazete do Urubu in Brazil, Liverpool are looking to add to the midfield too. Wolves star Joao Gomes has been linked with a move to the reds. The report claims that Liverpool are interested in Gomes and that a move was ‘close’. The Brazilian is a dynamic midfield option adept at covering ground and winning the ball. Wolves would reportedly listen to offers around £50million. Fans would be worried about signing a big money player from Wolves, Matheus Nunes who moved to Manchester City for a similar fee – has yet to find his feet and is widely considered as a flop.
Liverpool have also been linked with Gomes’ teammate Matheus Cunha earlier this season.
Gomes may not be ready for a big move
Joao Gomes is a decent player. He is a regular in the Brazil national team, and has impressed in his short time in England. But he really does not possess any outstanding quality that is needed in Liverpool’s midfield. The club would be better off spending that fee somewhere else.
