Liverpool handed worrying Trent Alexander-Arnold update

Trent Alexander-Arnold's contract with Liverpool expires in June 2025

The Trent Alexader-Arnold contract situation has continued to haunt Liverpool fans as the defender has yet to agree to sign a new deal with the Merseyside giants.

The soap opera surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold has been refusing to die down as Liverpool are still struggling to convince the player to sign on fresh terms with the club.

It would be a massive blow for Liverpool if they go on to lose the 26-year-old boyhood Reds fan on a free transfer to the lure of Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested but it is accepted that Alexander-Arnold is only likely to leave Anfield for Real Madrid next summer.

The defender’s ambition of wanting to win the Ballon d’Or also points towards a potential move to Real Madrid and a transfer in the summer is almost seen as an inevitability.

However, the nightmare scenario of losing Alexander-Arnold could come sooner than Liverpool fans expect and they might not have to wait until the summer.

The Trent Alexander-Arnold contract situation sees a fresh twist

Real Madrid’s original plan was to make an approach in January and sort out a pre-contract with Alexander-Arnold and sign him on a free transfer window.

They have already offered him a mega-deal and the plan was to get him for nothing at the end of the season.

However, Dani Carvajal’s injury and the team’s poor form have forced a rethink at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to Defenca Central, Real Madrid are now prepared to table a bid for the defender in the winter window if he doesn’t sign a new contract.

Can you name the club Liverpool signed these players from?

The Spanish giants are prepared to offer £42m to tempt Liverpool into selling the right-back in the January transfer window.

Real Madrid are counting on Liverpool cashing in on the defender in January if he doesn’t sign a new contract given he could leave on a free transfer in the summer.

However, it would also mean Liverpool giving up on convincing the defender to sign a new contract, which could be an unpopular decision for the fans.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool decide to sell Alexander-Arnold if Real Madrid indeed offer money for him in the winter window.
