Arne Slot’s position as Liverpool manager appears to still be under threat despite the Reds being unbeaten in their last two outings.
Just as Liverpool looked as though they were back on track after picking up a vital 2-0 win away from home against West Ham, they then dropped points at Anfield to newly promoted Sunderland in midweek.
Mohamed Salah started as a substitute for the second game running, as rumours continue to circulate regarding Salah’s future with Liverpool.
Another person whose future is also up in the air is Slot, with recent reports claiming the Reds could have their next managerial appointment already lined up should they choose to sack the Dutchman.
Oliver Glasner ‘strongly appreciated’ by Liverpool hierarchy

With Liverpool also reportedly being willing to open their wallet in the January transfer window, with Eduardo Camavinga being one of the players linked with a move to Anfield, the club must have a manager in place they trust for the long-term future, with potential new signings arriving.
Understandably, there is doubt as to whether Slot is still the man for the job, with the Reds winning just one of their last five matches in all competitions.
According to reports from Indy Kaila, writing for Caught Offside on 4 December, Liverpool chiefs Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards are said to be ‘seriously considering’ Crystal Palace boss Glasner as a potential replacement for Slot.
There have been no talks regarding the Austrian manager as of yet, who is ‘strongly appreciated’ by those inside Anfield.
Hughes and Edwards see the FA Cup winner with Palace as someone who shares a lot of similarities with legendary manager Jurgen Klopp, making him an ideal candidate for the job.
However, Liverpool may have to move swiftly if they believe Glasner should be Slot’s successor, with Manchester United also reportedly interested in hiring the 51-year-old, with Ruben Amorim also under pressure.

Liverpool should be wary of a potential Oliver Glasner appointment

One only needs to look at how Thomas Frank is performing at Tottenham to showcase how hard it is for a manager who made his name at a smaller Premier League club to transition into managing one of the big boys.
Whilst Glasner may adapt to Liverpool better than Frank has at Spurs, it is certainly a risk.
Especially when you consider the fact that Glasner’s primary system at Palace is a three at the back, meaning any players he signs for the Reds will have to be used to playing in this unique system if he chooses to implement this same philosophy at Anfield.
If Liverpool hire Glasner and sign players suited for this style, and it ultimately backfires, then the Reds could find themselves in a position where they have plenty of new arrivals that could be deemed surplus to requirements by a future manager if they revert away from a potential three at the back.
