Liverpool are looking to add more quality options to their squad  in the January transfer window

With a difficult season ongoing for Liverpool, marred with inconsistent results and injuries, they are on the lookout for a new midfielder who sits well with Arne Slot’s philosophy.

Liverpool don’t look anything close to their title-winning team last season, and reinforcements are expected in the January transfer window and next summer as well.

Atalanta’s Ederson has been linked with a move to Liverpool; however, the Brazilian is not the only midfielder that the Reds are reportedly showing interest in.

Eduardo Camavinga on Liverpool’s radar

Liverpool is preparing a serious assault on the transfer market with a reported bid of around £53million for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

According to sources cited by CaughtOffside, the French international has emerged as a prime target for Slot as the Dutchman seeks to overhaul his engine room.

Camavinga has also fallen short in the pecking order at Real Madrid since Xabi Alonso took the reins. With a player of his talents sure to be looking for regular minutes elsewhere if things don’t change soon.

The move signifies Liverpool’s ambition to recruit elite, proven talent despite their own struggles this campaign. Camavinga, 23, is a dynamic modern midfielder with superb technical qualities. He can play as a defensive anchor and can also present a box-to-box option to Slot.

However, the Reds could be set to face fierce competition.

Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich are all credited with interest, creating a potential bidding war for the youngster.

Camavinga himself has repeatedly spoken about his admiration for Madrid’s winning culture, suggesting no push for an exit, but his future may be decided by the club’s priorities.

Eduardo Camavinga faces stiff competition for gametime at Real Madrid[smartframe_images_embed customer-id=”b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf” image-id=”WmOBVqswPfe9″ style=”width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3500px; aspect-ratio: 3500/2333;”]

This proposed deal hinges on a unique shift within the Spanish capital.

While Real Madrid are not actively looking to part ways with Camavinga, a significant internal debate is reportedly underway.

With Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, and Jude Bellingham considered untouchable core assets, Camavinga’s long-term role is under scrutiny. Some at the Bernabeu believe cashing in on Camavinga could fund future transfers while maintaining squad balance.

This has seemingly opened the door for Liverpool. The reported bid of around £53million is viewed as a tempting starting point for negotiations, though it may fall short of Madrid’s ultimate valuation for a player contracted until 2029.

For Liverpool, securing Camavinga would be a massive boost and a major statement.

It would certainly address a key area for Slot with a quality addition. For Madrid, on the other hand, Camavinga’s situation is a dilemma.

They can cash in on a midfielder with a considerable amount of time remaining on his contract, since they have an abundance of squad depth in the position, meaning Camavinga’s exit wouldn’t leave a major dent in their squad.

For Liverpool, Camavinga’s proven record and winning mentality would be a massive coup as they attempt to turn their poor form around.
