Jurgen Klopp’s legacy at Liverpool is intact after close to nine glorious years at Anfield where he ended the club’s 30-year wait for a league title and also won the Champions League.
The German will continue to remain a cult figure at Liverpool and will hold a special place in the hearts of the fans on the Red side of the northwest city.
Klopp is set to return to football in January 2025 when he will assume the role of Global Head of Soccer in Red Bull’s football operations.
His decision to join the Red Bull group has attracted heavy criticism in Germany and Borussia Dortmund fans have been left disappointed by their former manager’s career choice.
The Red Bull group remain a deeply divisive figure in Germany for their corporate practices and have been accused of destroying German football traditions through their ownership of RB Leipzig.
Klopp has been accused of going against his own ethos and some have even stressed that his decision to join the Red Bull group will also lead to him breaking the promise he made to the Liverpool fans.
Klopp will be earning less wages than what he commanded at Liverpool
The former Liverpool manager will be adequately compensated for his new role in the Red Bull group but his wage package is less than what he earned at Anfield.
According to the German magazine Kicker, Klopp will be earning ‘significantly less’ than what he was commanding as Liverpool manager.
However, it also needs to be taken into account that his new role will be less taxing than the day-to-day business of being a manager at a Premier League club.
Klopp has been tasked with the job of mentoring coaches and management of clubs across the Red Bull group and using his experience to improve every aspect of their football operations.
They are also hoping to use Klopp as leverage to bring in players for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, which will further anger Dortmund fans.
He has agreed to a five-year deal and it has been claimed that there are no exit clauses in it contrary to previous reports.
