Liverpool were able to get a few deals across the line on deadline day.
The reds did not add any new faces this month, but made decisions to move some players in the window. Despite huge offers for key players, the club stood firm. Real Madrid tried a low offer for Trent Alexander-Arnold which was promptly rejected. Liverpool kept hold of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez despite outrageous offers from the Saudi Pro League.
Last week’s Champions League clash with PSV paved way for the transfer activity on Monday night. Arne Slot used the game as an opportunity to assess the fringe players in the squad. After the game, he revealed that he would discuss with Richard Hughes on if some players would remain in January:
“At the moment we have most of our players fit, so we will have this discussion tomorrow, me and Richard [Hughes], about these players,”

The reds saw eight players leave the club in the January transfer window. Marcelo Pitaluga, Tom Hill and Luca Furnell-Gill left on permanent deals. Furnell-Gill’s departure came as a huge shock as Spurs snapped up the highly rated youngster on deadline day.
Calvin Ramsay, Stefan Bajcetic, Dominic Corness, Kaide Gordon and Jayden Danns left Anfield on loan deals. Liverpool had to cancel Gordon and Bajcetic’s initial loan deals, and sent them to new clubs this month.
Jayden Danns was also a big move as he joined Championship side Stoke City on loan. The striker penned a long term deal with Liverpool before moving. However, there have been some complications with the deal. Danns had to be announced on Tuesday, after there was a delay in the deal. It has now been revealed that injury complications popped up in his medicals. Danns reportedly has back problems, and will rehabilitate at the AXA Training Centre before joining Stoke.
Having injury problems during a medical is sometimes a bad sign, Liverpool will hope that Danns will aggravate the injury. Stoke City could potentially cancel the loan if they feel the injury will disrupt the striker’s ability to play.
Good news that injury was flagged
Sometimes these incidents are a good thing. Now Liverpool can assess the youngster carefully and see how they proceed with him. Danns might have been playing the past few weeks with the injury without noticing. Liverpool fans will hope everything is fine, and the young striker can impress on loan in the Championship.
