Heartbreaking Trent Alexander-Arnold contract update

Liverpool are growing increasingly wary of the fact that Trent Alexander-Arnold could leave the club at the end of the season on a free transfer and join Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold is set to enter the final six months of his contract and there is no sign of a new deal getting agreed upon between the club and the player.

Real Madrid have been working on the player to convince him to move to the Spanish capital next summer on a free transfer and will make their formal offer in January.

The Spanish giants have already offered him a mega-deal and more and more voices are growing convinced that the defender will leave his boyhood club for Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Liverpool are yet to give up hope but there are concerns inside Anfield as Alexander-Arnold has demanded the club to show more ambition if they want to keep him.

Liverpool are growing uneasy about the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold is one of the greatest success stories of the club’s academy and in an ideal world, he would be seen as a future Liverpool captain.

However, the 26-year-old defender is now more or less expected to move on from Anfield on a free transfer at the end of the season.

According to Spanish sports daily AS, there is growing pessimism inside Liverpool about their prospects of holding on to the right-back beyond the end of the ongoing campaign.

Alexander-Arnold has no problem in dragging the negotiations into 2025, which Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has been keen to avoid.

However, Liverpool do not feel confident about convincing the defender to sign a new contract and commit his future to the club.

His admission that he wants to win the Ballon d’Or has been seen as a signal that he wants to move on from Anfield in the summer.

Real Madrid are keeping a tight grip on the saga and are growing confident about their chances of taking him to the Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer.

The Spanish giants feel it is a wonderful market opportunity to sign someone on a free transfer whose market value would have been more than €70m.
