Celtic are preparing to enter the race for Brondby midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic, with the Danish club valuing the player at £5m.
The Hoops have been monitoring the 23-year-old and are understood to be weighing up a move before the player departs for the World Cup.
Tahirovic made the switch from Ajax to Brondby for £2.5m in 2025 and has drawn interest from across Europe, including Portuguese club Porto.
The Sweden-born midfielder previously had a stint in Italy with Roma and first emerged on the scene at Vasalunds before his career took off.
Sources in Scandinavia suggest Brondby are prepared to wait until after the World Cup to sell, expecting the 6ft-3ins defensive midfielder’s value to rise further.
Celtic have not yet submitted a formal offer and continue to assess multiple options while the managerial vacancy at Parkhead remains unresolved.
Powerbroker Dermot Desmond is expected to hold talks with Martin O’Neill in the coming days as the club continues to source and approach targets.
Celtic will not, however, pursue a permanent deal for striker Tomas Cvancara, who has returned to Borussia Monchengladbach following an early end to his loan spell due to a calf injury.
The Hoops have decided against triggering the option to buy Cvancara for around £7m, though the Germans could reduce their asking price as the attacker is considered surplus to requirements.
Celtic are also keen to explore signing Marcelo Saracchi permanently from Boca Juniors after his impressive loan stint, though no bid has been submitted and competition exists both in South America and Europe.
Julian Araujo’s short-term loan at Parkhead was cut short through injury, but the Mexican international made an impression in Scotland before returning to Bournemouth.
Celtic were keen to hold discussions over either a season-long loan or a permanent move for Araujo, though both the player and Bournemouth are still weighing their options.
Araujo is set to feature at the World Cup and has attracted interest from several clubs in Mexico.
Celtic have meanwhile informed Hannover 96 that defender Maik Nawrocki will cost approximately £3m to sign, with the German club showing appetite to complete a deal.
The Polish centre-back impressed during his loan spell in Bundesliga 2, but Hannover are currently unwilling to meet Celtic’s asking price for the player, who has two years remaining on his Parkhead contract.
Nawrocki, 25, arrived at Celtic for £4.3m from Legia Warsaw but struggled with injury and fell out of contention under Brendan Rodgers before rediscovering form in Germany.
