Arne Slot issues crucial Liverpool injury update ahead of United clash

Liverpool injury update

Liverpool’s injuries are a growing concern, especially in the defence, as Arne Slot is barely holding the back four intact. A long-term anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury to Giovanni Leoni was the first incident that set off alarms at Anfield.

An injury to Ibrahima Konate followed as the Frenchman went down against Chelsea and couldn’t play during the October international break.

Despite having joined the French squad, Konate decided to pull back before the game against Iceland. The Frenchman is also in the news every day following his contract expiration at the end of this season.

Real Madrid are on his tail, and the centre-back doesn’t seem interested in extending his contract despite multiple offers from the Merseysiders.

Liverpool face Manchester United on Sunday, and Slot will be hoping to get back on track following their three-game defeat before the break. The Dutch gaffer took on some injury questions and has offered insights into the situation at Anfield.

Ryan Gravenberch has returned to full fitness and is expected to make a comeback against Manchester United, according to Arne Slot.

The fellow Dutchman is having a mixed season with minor injuries affecting the midfielder’s ability to adapt. With a return, Slot will be hoping to make full use of Gravenberch against Amorim’s men.

Another key update Slot offered was about Konate. The Dutchman expects Ibrahima to train with the team today following his injury against Chelsea.

This will be a big boost to the Merseysiders as the Frenchman remains the first-choice centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk. Joe Gomez would fill his shoes if, for some reason, Konate can’t make it.

Alisson Becker was also mentioned in the talks as Slot told the press that the Brazilian goalkeeper won’t be making an appearance anytime soon.

It is still early, and the club hopes to gain more insight as Alisson regains much fitness. The Reds goalkeeper went down against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League, and Giorgi Mamardashvili has since been covering the Brazilian.

Manchester United injury concerns

Ruben Amorim is in a dilemma as both Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui won’t be making an appearance against Liverpool on Sunday.

Martinez is still recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained in February and is hopeful to get back on the pitch in the upcoming weeks.

Mazraoui, on the other hand, is dealing with a month-old issue. The Morocco international might only feature again after this weekend’s clash.
