Another major twist in Mo Salah contract saga

The Mo Salah contract saga was blown apart this week when the player decided to bring the negotiations into the light of the day by going public about it. Liverpool are under now pressure to offer the player a contract that he could sign but the two sides are still some way away from reaching an agreement.

Salah made it clear after his virtuoso performance at Southampton on Sunday that he is still waiting for an offer of a new deal from Liverpool. The club dragging their feet in the negotiations has clearly annoyed the player.

The Merseyside giants insist that negotiations are still ongoing and a formal offer has not been made because the two sides are still far apart from agreeing on a deal.

Salah wants to stay but believes he has done enough to earn the security of a three-year contract while Liverpool are reluctant to get trapped into an expensive deal with an ageing player.

The two sides have issued to sort out before a deal can be in place for him to sign a new contract but Liverpool are not giving up on the prospect of holding on to the 32-year-old forward.

The Mo Salah contract saga: a new offer is being prepared

Salah’s preference is to stay at Liverpool over the option of moving to Saudi Arabia or joining one of their European rivals next summer on a free transfer.

The player’s willingness to stay at Anfield has given the club more room to negotiate and the club are keen to push hard to keep him at the club.

According to TEAMTalk, Liverpool are preparing a new offer for Salah to consider as they push to convince him to stay.

The forward’s representatives will soon receive the new offer for them and the player to pour over in the coming weeks.

It remains to be seen whether the Reds are prepared to compromise and offer the star man the three-year contract he has been demanding.

Salah’s decision to open his mouth about the negotiations has ramped up the pressure on Liverpool to act with the fans on the player’s side.
