In the recent Europa League quarter-final second leg at Atalanta's Gewiss Stadium, Liverpool supporters found themselves in a derelict section of the stadium.

Despite their team securing a 1-0 victory on the night, the joy was subdued as Liverpool exited the competition with a 3-1 aggregate score, following a disappointing 3-0 defeat in the first leg at Anfield.

The Gewiss Stadium, which can accommodate up to 21,300 spectators, is known for its raucous atmosphere and passionate fans.

However, this particular section for away supporters has drawn attention for its stark and imposing features.

Pictures circulating on social media show Liverpool fans perched behind tall metal barriers topped with netting, a setup that starkly contrasts with the usual freedom and visibility afforded to football supporters in England.

Despite the rigorous security protocols, the Liverpool faithful remained vocal throughout the match, showing support for the Reds.

Liverpool, a side known for remarkable comebacks, went into the match hopeful but ultimately could not overturn the deficit from the first leg.

Redmen TV producer Paul Maychin shared his own images on Twitter and it's safe to say the away section looks dramatically better with fans in it.

Liverpool are now clinging onto the hope that they can claw their way back to the top of the Premier League table but it's not in their hands.

Both Arsenal and leaders Manchester City are better placed to win the title.

For the Reds to win the league this season, they're going to need both sides to drop points and will likely also need to win their remaining six games without any hiccups.
